How can underutilised biological resources from the sea and land become valuable ingredients and products for a more sustainable future?
This shared challenge brings together five research and innovation projects within the CIRCULARIS BioCluster: VALORISH, ONE EARTH, PROMISEANG, MARMADE, and FOODIMAR.
Although the projects work with different resources, technologies, and applications, they share a common mission: to develop sustainable and scalable bio-based solutions that make better use of biological resources and side streams.
The importance of joining forces
Across the cluster, researchers are exploring the potential of diverse materials including fish processing side streams, marine invertebrates, algae, crustacean residues, dairy by-products, and poultry residues. Through innovative biological and technological processes, these resources are being investigated for applications in sectors such as food, feed, agriculture, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.
The CIRCULARIS BioCluster creates opportunities for joint communication, dissemination, and knowledge exchange among its participating projects. Through workshops, webinars, communication activities, and other collaborative initiatives, the cluster aims to share knowledge, engage wider audiences, and explore opportunities for scientific and technical collaboration.

The purpose of the series was not only to communicate what each project is doing. It was also an opportunity to better understand the expertise, approaches, and recent developments across the cluster.
