New Thematic Cards Explore the Key Compounds Behind ONE EARTH

What do polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), volatile fatty acids (VFAs) and polypeptides have in common? They are three important groups of compounds at the heart of ONE EARTH’s research into transforming underutilised biological residues into valuable resources.

To make the science behind the project easier to understand, ONE EARTH has developed a new series of thematic cards dedicated to these key compounds. The cards provide an accessible introduction to what each group of compounds is, why it matters, how it can be produced, and where it can potentially be used.

The series also explains how PUFAs, VFAs and polypeptides fit into the ONE EARTH concept. From fishery and poultry residues to cheese whey, the project is investigating how underutilised biological resources can be transformed into valuable compounds for applications ranging from food and aquaculture feed to cosmetics and other bio-based products.

Whether you want to discover why omega-3 fatty acids are important, understand how VFAs can become building blocks for new products, or learn how protein-rich residues can provide valuable polypeptides, the cards offer a simple way to explore the science behind ONE EARTH.
