The CIRCULARIS BioCluster reached an important milestone with its first in-person workshop, held on 21 May 2026 during the European Biomass Conference and Exhibition (EUBCE 2026) in The Hague, the Netherlands.
Jointly organised by the VALORISH and PROMISEANG projects, the workshop, titled “Blue Biomass to High-Value Products”, brought together more than 25 participants from research organisations, industry, and other stakeholder groups interested in the circular bioeconomy and sustainable marine resource use.
The session opened with an introduction to the CIRCULARIS BioCluster, followed by presentations showcasing the work of the VALORISH and PROMISEANG projects. Participants also explored topics including computational approaches for assessing bioprocesses, marine resource valorisation technologies, and sustainable strategies for transforming fish processing side streams into higher-value products. An interactive Q&A session provided further opportunities for discussion and knowledge exchange.
The workshop highlighted the importance of developing circular approaches that make better use of marine biomass and fish industry by-products. By transforming these underutilised resources into valuable products, projects within the CIRCULARIS BioCluster are contributing to more sustainable and resource-efficient value chains.
Beyond the technical programme, the event also demonstrated the value of collaboration between European research and innovation projects. Bringing together initiatives including VALORISH, PROMISEANG, ONE EARTH, and MARMADE created opportunities to exchange expertise, identify synergies, and strengthen the impact of research activities through joint communication and stakeholder engagement.
